Posted - July 22 2014 : 23:36:45 I have a Samsung 840 EVO SSD that has built-in hardware encryption. Will there be any issue creating an image of this SSD with Macrium? I want to be sure I'll be able to restore from the Macrium image.
Thanks

Thanks!

Posted - July 23 2014 : 15:39:23 Hi gator,
It depends on the mode of encryption.
1) Not encrypted. The device will operate as a normal disk. Full Reflect support as per a standard disk. 2) Encrypted with BIOS support / password prompt. The encryption is completely transparent. Fully supported by Reflect, as per a standard disk. 3) Encrypted using software pre-boot authentication environment (i.e., with a software-based full disk encryption component). It depends on how this is implemented as to whether Macrium supports this configuration; we have not tested it so cannot guarantee support.

Posted - July 23 2014 : 03:48:44 Have you actually encrypted the SSD. I have an Samsung 840 Pro & I have not encrypted it & it works perfectly with the Macrium image back up. So if you have not encrypted it you should have no problems.
