Hi,

Does Macrium have any features which can easily and securely transfer documents, files, folders, photos, music, applications along with their settings, etc. from any Windows-based computer to another PC with the same system or later, with no need to reinstall programs, and it removes nothing from the original PC and does not overwrite any preinstalled applications on the destination PC.

Thanks in advance,

The Easus Todo PCTrans claims to do it but I don't know which programs it does do with paid version. The free only does 2 applications.

When Windows installs a program it copies the programs files to various locations, usually in Program Files, Program Data, User..., System32 folders and perhaps others such as the 64 bit folders. It also makes entries in the registy. For an application to be transferred to another PC the transferring program has to be aware of all of this information and it certainly is not the same for every program. It also means that if there is a 64-bit version of the program available and you are moving from a 32-bit system to a 64 bit system, you will have the 32-bit program installed. It will work but is isn't native.

Copy applications to a new PC does not necessarily remove the need to reactivate those that are activated.

Anyway, Reflect is an image/file backup program and does not perform this function. You are better off researching this with the Easus support mechanisms or those of some other program that claims to transfer applications. Personally, I'd sooner do a clean install of the application on a new PC.

If moving software weren't so difficult I (and possibly others) would upgrade more frequently. MS has a free product, Windows Easy Transfer which falls into this category. There is another (link below) that might help. I am not familiar with it.

Thanks a lot,
you mean that any moving software will not be able to move all programs from one computer to another with no need to reinstall programs?
The software used to move MS office, etc from one computer to another, it will only transfer documents, files, folders, photos, music, applications along with their settings, etc with no need to reinstall the entire suite of MS office(Word, and excel and so on)? Or I will need to reinstall the entire suite of MS office?

I really was told that EaseUS Todo PCTrans can easily and securely transfer documents, files, folders, photos, music, applications along with their settings, etc. from any Windows-based computer to another PC with the same system or later, with no need to reinstall programs, and it removes nothing from the original PC and does not overwrite any preinstalled applications on the destination PC. But I have not used it yet?
