Hi, Everything had been working fine with my backups to a network drive until about two weeks ago. The full backups (weekly on Monday evenings)are still working but the incremental backups (Tuesday-Friday evenings)are failing with the following message:"Backup aborted!-Write operation failed-the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". When I try to execute a backup manually it also fails.I am using Kaspersky A/V but it was working before with Kaspersky installed. Thanks for any help you can offer.
This error is most probably caused by Kaspersky. Make sure that you have added Reflect to the trusted zone and have set 'do not scan open files' and 'do not monitor application activity'.
It may be another PC on your network that is scanning the file.
I made "macrium reflect" a member of the trusted zone and I'm trying again.I don't understand why Kaspersky would allow the full backup by reflect and not the incremental if this is the solution. Or why it allowed the backups two weeks ago. I'll let you know.
At this point, neither the incremental or full backups are working. The error message is "Backup aborted!-Write operation failed-the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". I am getting frustrated. I have the full version of reflect on the server (Windows Server 2003)and I am backing it up to another computer on the local network. The destination computer does not have reflect loaded onto it.Both computers have Kaspersky AV loaded. On the destination computer I have "reflect.exe" and "reflectservice.exe" listed as trusted applications.I did not write out the full paths for these applications. They appear on the list as above. Should this work? If not, what do you suggest? Thanks.
I'm just getting back to this issue. It did successfully back up the server with kaspersky uninstalled but that's not a workable solution. I need antivirus protection on the computer and I purchased a three year license from kaspersky. Are you saying that I can't use reflect If I have kaspersky installed? We have another server at another location and that system works with kaspersky and reflect installed.
Kaspersky should not be scanning Image/backup files. It seems to be waiting to lock the file and opens it before Reflect can write the index. This activity is causing problems.
Even if Reflect didn't have an issue with the file being locked by another process you would not want another application unnecessarily opening and reading a multi GB file; especially over your network.
It's possible that Kaspekeys' trusted zone isn't network aware. This means that you can put Reflect is a 'Trusted' zone, but other PCs on your network with access to the same share all try to scan the same recently created file without knowledge of the process that created it.
