When scheduling a file and folder backup it accepts everything right down to where I click 'Finish' then it gives me the message that "The parameter is incorrect".

I don't understand what this means. I never had problems scheduling on my previous laptop but this is a new one and as of yet have not been able to schedule an automatic differential backup. I can do a full file and folder backup with no problem.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Nick

Thanks for all your help. When I went to the command prompt and did a 'whoami' it was showing my login name then a \ and my login name again. When I entered it that way in the scheduler we were away to the races. I feel better now.

Thanks again for your help

Re-create the task and check that the Windows user account information that you have entered is correct.

If the problem persists try again after a Windows 'Clean boot'. Select only Microsoft Services and startup programs to isolate interference from other processes on your system.

Note: These instructions also apply to Windows 10

Hi

Thanks for posting. The error is returned by the Windows Task scheduler and the parameter it's referring to may be your user account information.

Are you running Reflect v5 or v6?

Thanks for your reply

My OS is Windows 10 home. Not sure I'm understanding what you are saying. Yes it does a full backup of my files and folders with no problem. I guess I'm thrown by 'parameters'. What does that mean exactly.

What OS is on your laptop? All I can suggest is experiment to see if you can tell which parameter it does not like. Can make a full backup then you can make a differential backup. Just make a full backup with the SAME parameters you are specifying for the differential. If it works with out error. You can edit the VBScript that Reflect creates and change the parameter being passed to Reflect in the call to DIF.
