Hi Nick, I am running a file and folder backup of several folders on a server 03 machine. One of the folders I am backing up is a copy of the Documents and settings folder. I get the message 'some files cannot be copied. Check Security settings'. I have a feeling this is an issue with a file that is in use as the permissions are set up appropriately to allow copying. In the same backup I get 'Files removed from backup. Some of those files come from the copy of the documents and settings folder while other are from different locations. One for example is a log file needed to restore an SQL database. It is C:\solid\Backup\sol06241.log. This file is not open or locked in any way during the backup and I am able to copy it at any time with my user (the user configured to run Macrium).
I am running Windows Server 2003 Standard edition Service pack 2
My questions are: 1. Is there a way to find out why some files are removed from the backup? 2. Can I force Macrium not to remove them from the backup?
Can you confirm that at the 'Choose File' page of the wizard as in step 4 of tutorial http://www.macrium.com/KB/KnowledgebaseArticle50032.aspx that there is no tick against 'Exclude hidden files and folders' and 'Exclude system files and folders'. As a tick may cause exclusions of the folders you are having problems with.
I have been trying to send you an email with the attachment all morning but the emails are bouncing back to me. Is there a different email I can send the files to?
I am getting same message in the log file "Files Removed From Backup". What does this mean? Note: the files listed are in the backup file and also exist on the medium being backed up.
