I upgraded to Win7-64bit and an Intel 510 SSD, and am dual-booting with XP until I can dump the old OS. Is it possible to create a new 64-bit WinPE rescue CD? My existing old CD (v.4.2.3141) won't boot. I have WinPEInstall32, but haven't rerun it yet on the Win7 side, and I guess I can't create a PE disk until I run it or the 64-bit WinPEInstallx64 version.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us.

You should be able to install your existing WinPE installer (32 bit) on your 64 bit OS and create a new rescue CD.

When you say the existing CD won't boot. Are you getting boot errors or errors after the PE component has loaded ?

If you require a 64 bit version of PE then this will be chargeable as further downloads incur Microsoft Licensing royalties.

Kind regards.

Chris.

Slightly off topic here but can I purchase a copy of the 64 bit (and the 32 bit edition for that matter) edition of WinPE and keep the file as spare? Is there a link for this?

Hi Marcus

You can only purchase an additional copy by attempting to create a WinPE rescue CD if the Windows PE component isn't installed. You only need to do this if you don't have a copy of the installer already.

To download the 64 bit installer you must be running Reflect on 64 bit Windows.

Kind Regards
