Is there a more official way of USB Flash Rescue drive creation? I found some threads about Windows PE and Bart PE usb creation, just wondering what are Macrium Reflect own team thinks about this.
The idea is that instead of writing new rescue cd's when every update is released, I just write again on a USB Flash rescue. And keep one USB rescue flash drive instead.
How often are Rescue Cd's are upadted anyways? Every Macrium Reflect update right?
Is 1GB flash drive enough for Windows PE/Linux/Bart PE rescue cd |

Hi
Thanks for your post.
Please see this kb article on creating a bootable USB stick.

If the rescue CD is updated you'll see a notification in the version log when you take the 'Updates' option. The rescue CD is updated les than the main application.
A 1GB flash drive is large enough.
Kind Regards

is 'c:\boot\macrium' dirctory mentioned in KB http://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50025.aspx
still valid for latest windows pe 2.0 image?
I wasnt able to access directory via windows explorer or run menu. also the windows pe is served as an .iso , not .exe
also a windows xp user here, the kb mentions vista+ is necessary however im not sure why would the os matter if the windows pe 2.0 disc image itself is whats being written.
thank you |

To create a WindowsPE USB boot stick you need to be running Windows Vista or above
The partition must be formatted using Windows Vista/7. Windows Vista/7 creates different partition boot sector code that's compatible with the Boot Configuration Data (BCD). The BCD is used to boot Windows PE and all flavours of Windows with the Vista kernel and later. The partition boot sector is created when the file system is formatted. "
is there a way to create usb drive with BCD mentioned above, without owning 7/vista, maybe some third party tool, like hp disk format or something like that? |

If you boot into the Windows PE you can run the commands from there to format your flash drive. Windows PE 2.0 is Vista based.
