Hopefully you can help me with this issue. I have a new computer which came with Windows 7 already installed I used a program to copy the full image (not using <Macrium) to my new computer. This gave me a Host side and a Guest side with Windows XP emulation 32 bit and Windows 7 on the same computer. I installed Macrium Reflect on Windows XP (which is where it was on my old computer) and when I tried to create an Image copy Macrium was able to see the external NTFS hard drive but when I cliked next I got an error message as shown on the Subject line above.
I tried to install Macrium Reflect on the Windows 7 side which is 64 bit but nothing happened, it just hung there.

Any ideas?

Can you map the share as a drive letter in Windows Explorer, then use the mapped drive letter as the backup target.

Please run 'chkdsk' on your local drives as there may be a file system issue that's causing this problem.

1. Click 'Start' > 'All Programs' > 'Accessories' then click 'Command Prompt'. Note: In Windows Vista/7, right click and select 'Run as Administrator'.

2. Type 'chkdsk c: /f' and press enter.

3. If you receive the message 'Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the net time your system restarts?' press 'Y' then enter.

4. Reboot your PC.

5. Repeat for each local drive letter.

Hi Nick,
The chkdsk gives me an "invalid parameter". Also, I don't understand how to "map the share as a drive letter" Can you give me the procedure?

Unless you are running chkdsk from the windows recovery console, chkdsk /f should not return an invalid parameter error. Please recheck your typing.
