I have made a bootable rescue disc with Win PE Bart Builder and my Windows XP installation CD which works fine when booting up from it. However I cannot see the external Seagate USB external drive to which the Macrium back up image files of my PC has been loaded when attempting to do a test restore. I am sure that I am using USB 2 . Any ideas of the way to see the external drive. Is this an issue with the software? Thanks.

Hi

The drivers in Bart PE do not cover all hardware. The better solution when there is a driver problem is to use Windows PE. You can create a Windows PE rescue CD using tutorial: http://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50045.aspx

Near bottom of tutorial is a link about adding additional drivers if they are needed. Hopefully Windows PE will see your external drive without needing to add additional drivers.

Alternatively use the following tutorial about adding drivers before you burn your CD: http://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50065.aspx

Hope this helps

You can try the linux disk, or linux disk with compatibility mode.
If neither work, then use the licensed WinPE disk.
That will give the greatest compatibility.
If you don't have a V4 license, they are no longer for sale.
