I currently have RAID enabled on my computer in a mirror'd configuration. (2x SATA drives using the inbuilt RAID functionality on my motherboard (nForce 430 chipset)). I've made a full image backup of the drive (So far so good!) and rebooted using the RescueCD, backup image is selected from a samba mount and everything appears to work well. However when the restore screen comes up in which you select which partition you want to restore to, The Rescue CD is picking up the RAID Array as two separate disks. Is there a way around this? As I assume otherwise the array would have to be rebuilt after restore.
Apart from this little quirk I'm thoroughly impressed, Thank you!
The Linux based Rescue CD doesn't recognize the RAID array and as you have noted the only way round this is to rebuild the array after restoring.
There are more workable solutions comming soon:
1. Next week we will post a BartPE plugin for Reflect that will enable you to build a Rescue CD from your XP installation. (If that's what your using). This should support your motherboard drivers.
2. In the (Very!) near future we shall have a Windows Vista based recovery CD that will allow you to add additional drivers. We are just waiting for the agreement with Microsoft to enable us to distribute VistaPE. Please note that we can't make the Vista based solution available with the trial version of Reflect.
Thank you for the very quick and detailed response. I'm currently using Vista so that's great news on the second option, I bought your software this morning after a working restore on a single disk over a network share (which I've always had trouble with on similar products). So I'm very much looking forward to trying the VistaPE based rescue disc when its available. Hopefully I'll never have to actually use it
Reflect v3.0.1730 now includes a Windows PE 2.0 (Vista) based recovery CD. Please note that due to licensing restrictions this CD is only available to registered users of Reflect.
