Sorry - did not finish message. Tried to create Rescue Cd. Please press the NEXT button to continue - but it is always greyed out - as per your HELP screens, actually. Pressed FINISH, which caused CD write activity - in the case of the LINUX option it went straight to "Writing lead-out and flushing cache" and froze. In the case of the Windows option it seemed to write a lot to the CD, but also ended up frozen on the same message.

Hi Terry,

There seems to be a compatibility issues with your CD/DVD writer.

In your install directory "c:\program files\macrium\reflect", you will find two iso files: RescuePE.iso & Rescue.iso.

You can use Nero or whatever buring application that came with your PC to create either Rescue CD by burning one of these images. Try Right clicking and selecting 'Burn' or 'open with' and selecting your CD burning program.

Hope this helps

Terry,

Please note that the final stage of writing to CD.. "Writing Leadout and Flushing Cache" can take several minutes dependant on your CD/DVD burner. How long did you wait?

Thanks, guys. My writer is an HP DVD writer 400c vBh04 (3:0:0) if that means anything... I tried again with the flushing cache - it took 10 mins and said that it ended OK - however Explorer said that the cd was blank. I tried it anyway by rebooting but nothing happened. I checked the setup and my CD drive is setup as a boot device, before the hard drive. I copied the small rescue file to the cd manually as suggested, it definitely arrived, Explorer can see it. I rebooted again and my PC booted normally, not to the CD. Am I missing something - how else can I test that the rescue cd works OK? Sorry if I being thick.

As the burn wizard finished, I suspect the problem is with the media you are using. Make sure that you are using either a fresh CD-R or high quality (Preferably fresh) CD-RW.

If it still doesn't work you need to burn the .iso image to CD. An ISO image is not just a file that you copy to CD, it contains the file system, including boot sector that needs to be written. If you are using XP then open the file in Nero or whatever CD burning software you use. It will recognise the iso image and burn it correctly. If you are using Vista then try googleing, "burn ISO image Vista", you should find many free utilities to achieve this.

Hope this helps

Forgot to mention:

Rescue.iso is the Linux CD, RescuePE.iso is the Windows based CD and provides additional funtionality.

All OK, now, thanks. Burning the ISO with freeware ISO recorder did the trick.
