I have the exact same problem describe in this thread.

I have a Western Digital My Book Essentials 2TB external USB 2/3.0 drive. This drive is attached to a USB 3.0 PCIe x1 card by a company called "Io Crest". The PCIe card uses the Fresco Logic USB 3.0 chipset. I have the latest drivers. The My Book works flawlessly in Windows 7 64 bit; I can back up using Macrium at full USB 3.0 speeds. But when I used the WinPE Rescue disk that I created, the My Book was invisible when plugged into the USB 3.0 port. It would only be visible in the Rescue environment when plugged into a USB 2.0 port (the ones already built into the computer).

Coming here (and reading this thread previously, I saw the mention of the ReflectDC program. I downloaded and installed this. The program copied all of the files over to the boot disk maker, and I made another Rescue CD. This time, while WinPE is booting, you can see it loading the necessary drivers for the USB 3.0 operation. Unfortunately, the My Book is still invisible in the USB 3.0 port. It does become visible in a USB 2.0 port.
Has there been any solution to this problem?

My computer is using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. 8GB RAM; 1TB Western Digital and 640GB Western Digital SATA hard drives (internal); 2 TB My Book Essential Hard Drive (external)

It has 6 USB 2.0 ports built in
It has 1 USB 3.0 port provided by an IO Crest PCIe x1 card- this card is using Win7 64 bit drivers provided by Fresco Logic.

Thank you,
Paul

Hi,

This issue is currently under active investigation.

It would be really helpful if we could identify the exact usb controller that you having problems with. So we can see the specification of your system, could you run 'System Information' ('All Programs' > 'Accessories' > 'System Tools' > 'System Information') and take the 'File' > 'Save' menu option. Save the '.nfo' file and attach it an email to support at macrium.com.

Kind Regards

I have the exact same problem with my WD My Passport SE (USB 3.0). Once I boot the machine into the WinPE it will not discover the external HD. I ran the ReflectDC program but it failed to find any drivers on the the computer for the USB HD, i then found drivers through WD's website and manually copied them into the WinPE folder. The WinPE then loads the drivers upon boot but still fails to recognize the drive.

I even went as far as installing the WD SES driver found here: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=215&lang=en

but the ReflectDC still does not find the driver in the machine

I also have this problem with a Buffalo HD-HXU3 USB3 ext HDD

I can create my image to it but the rescue bootup doesnt recognise it.

I have tried the ReflectDC application (run as administrator) and I get loads of errors as below.

Can you suggest how I can get this working?

My solution

Summary: Reflectdc copied only one of two drivers necessary to run USB 3.0 so I had to copy one by hand

My setup: win7 64 bit. bought rocketfish USB 3 controller and WD Mybook 3tb from BestBuy

Solution

First find where USB 3.0 drivers are located
get to command prompt &
cd \windows\system32
C:\windows\system32\drivequery /v /fo csv >driverlist.csv

from excel, open driverlist.csv and find USB 3.0 drivers

mine was Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Hub Driver
note location

Copy drivers to c:/boot/macrium/drivers/USB
this would be both the 'inf' & 'sys' files

Now build boot cd again

notes below

http://www.msigeek.com/5569/how-to-get-an-inventory-of-all-the-installed-device-drivers-in-a-machine

below is my reflectdc log showing only one USB 3 file copied

09:05:45 - Macrium ReflectDC - Driver Copy Utility 1.2 - Copyright 2010, 2011 (c)
09:05:45 - WinPE component is x64
09:05:45 - IsWow64Process executed successfully from kernel32.dll
09:05:45 - Operating system is x64
09:05:45 - Copying files for device Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller
09:05:45 - ImagePath is: system32\DRIVERS\nusb3xhc.sys
09:05:45 - INF Filename is: oem11.inf
09:05:45 - Success

But there is an oem12.inf that was missing

nusb3hub.inf_amd64_neutral_03fb2a55db5832a2

Thanks to the info provided by CelebrexMan I did some digging around on my system, found the correct files, and now can see my 3TB Western Digital My Book Essential connected via USB 3.0, when booted via the Rescue CD!!! This is on a Windows 7 64-bit system.

A Windows Explorer search for "nusb3hub" found a directory hidden away at C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nusb3hub.inf_amd64_neutral_d58f2305638104e9 that contains 4 files:

nusb3hub.cat
nusb3hub.inf
nusb3hub.PNF
nusb3hub.sys

I copied those 4 files to C:\Boot\macrium\Drivers\USB then created a new Rescue CD (v5.0.4368) Success at last... It appears that the recent USB 3 "Fix" in v5.0.4354 includes only the USB 3 Controller Drivers, but without the Hub Drivers also loaded, then the USB 3 card can't see any connected devices. I think that only the .inf and .sys files are required, but hey, it's finally working.
