I just saw that MR got updated again, so I ran it and it updated the version on my PC. However, you usually update the WinPE component at the same time. It's been a while since I did this, but I seem to remember that I could update the Windows Recovery Boot component using the Other Tasks menu.
But when I try that now, it tells me I already downloaded the WinPE component (which I did months ago when I first installed it) and it wants me to PAY to download it again.
Isn't there a way to update the Windows Recovery Boot component without having to purchase the WinPE component again?
BTW, I saved the WinPE download from before, but it's and older version, not the new one. |

Maybe I should experiment more BEFORE I post!!
Just after I posted this, I remembered HOW to do it -- Start the process of creating the Rescue CD, using the WinPE option. That will download the new component and patch the existing one to upgrade it.
Sorry for the thread. Go ahead and delete it if you want. |

I stand corrected! It did NOT update the WinPE component as I had thought. It is still 3141. So, while the steps appear correct, when I tried it again, it says there are no updates available. |

Thanks for the clarification ...
I think what happened is I overwrote the existing WinPE files when I was trying to update them from the saved download, and when I ran the update, it actually updated the WinPE file "to" v3.1.4.1 (from the older version) instead of "from" (to a newer version). |
