Hello:

I recently installed RAID 0 on Windows 7 64 Bit and realized that the standard Linux rescue CD didn't work. It listed numerous drives including the 100 meg system partition.

I've read through various posts here on how to create a rescue CD for RAID. I do have the full version of Reflect. It seems that a lot of the posts refer people to this link. http://macrium.com/webhelp/Adding_Drivers.asp?nohead=y

I'm running a Gigabyte board with integrated RAID and I have an Intel PCIE NIC card.

I'd appreciate some clarification on what needs to be added to build a recovery CD. Should I extract and add the full package of RAID drivers or just certain files? I'm at a loss understanding the addition of Network drivers. Would this be solely for network administration or do they have to be added when using a single desktop PC too.

I've seen several posts by Macrium stating that Reflect does not support software RAID. Is this still the case?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Please note that the drivers for Windows PE should be Vista based drivers and match the architecture of your WinPE component (x86 ot x64).

When copying the drivers please include all .SYS, .INF, .CAT and .DLL files. Using tutorial: http://www.macrium.com/webhelp/Adding_Drivers.asp

Having added drivers the following tutorial explains how to create a Windows PE rescue CD: http://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50045.aspx

You may also find the following tutorial a useful way of adding additional drivers before you burn the CD: http://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50065.aspx

Hope this helps

Thanks for the valuable links and the specific advice on Vista drivers.

Will the recovery disk still work with software RAID or does one have to utilize a RAID card?

Thanks for your patience.

Hi

Windows PE rescue CD can Image and restore operating systems of Windows 7, Vista, XP and Server 2003 and 2008 both 32 and 64 bit.

It is unable to Image and restore Dynamic disks (software RAID). You will have to wait for Version 5 of Macrium Reflect for this.

Hope this helps
