Nick,

As per your request, I installed v5 on my sandbox machine and everything works fine.

To summarize:

Image is from a Windows 7 Pro machine running v4.2 complete edition w/ extensions.

I'm using the same image file from the above machine in all testing here.

Results from my sandbox/testing machine: Windows 7 Pro 32-bit:
1) Macrium V4.2 complete edition - everything works fine
2) Macrium v5 free - everything works fine

Results from my production machine: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (Lenovo laptop):
1) Macrium v4.2 complete edition - problems*
2) Macrium v5 Professional - problems

So different platforms yield different results.

* I said earlier that this version worked ok - that was on my old XP Pro laptop which died and I replaced it with the Win 7 Pro 64-bit Lenovo and upgraded to Macrium v5 at the same time. That's when the problems began.

FYI: There aren't any private folders that I can see: In every directory path that I've tested, the permissions for mymachinename\administrators on each folder has the "List Folder Contents" permission checked.

The explorer2 works fine. I may be forced to use this instead if I can't get this issue resolved.

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for getting back and supplying that information

Can you please export the following registry key using regedit on the Window 7 PC that is able to open the file in question:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Navigate to the key in the left hand pane of regedit, right click on the key and select 'export'. Rename the exported file to have a '.txt' extension rather than '.reg' and email it to us at 'support (at) macrium.com'.

Can you also email the system information file of the same PC. Click Start > 'All Programs' > 'Accessories' > 'System Tools' > 'System Information' and take the 'File' > 'Save' menu option. Save the '.nfo' file, compress (.zip) it and attach it to you email.

This will, hopefully, let us see the configuration differences between your Windows 7 installations.

Kind regards

Nick - Macrium Support

Nick,

I just sent the information you requested. I also sent information from the machine where it is not working, for comparison.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for posting and sorry that we have not gotten back sooner.

I'm afraid that we have not been able to reproduce your situation within the test lab. Your only option is to use Explorer 2 to access the file in question.

Kind Regards,

Martin - Macrium Support
