I have been having my drive immages crash / abort in process, with the error stated as "The system can not find the specified file."
I am saving the images created on an external usb Drive. My Operating System is Vista HP, and I am saving to a Western Digital 500 GB USB2 HDD. I noticed that Windows is stating that my C: drive is Drive 0, while Macrium Reflect is stating that my C: drive is drive 1. Some of my backups have worked well, and others crash with the above stated error. I am wondering if there is a way to identify the real problem so it can be addressed. Suggestions would be appreciated. Vista user999 12-1-2007 |

Hi
If you can end us a bit more information I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this:
1. If you have a Reflect log file could you right click in the log file and select 'View Source' then save the file. 2. From the start menu go to ‘All Programs’ then ‘Accessories’ then ‘System Tools’ then select ‘System Information’. 3. Take the ‘File’ menu then ‘Save’ and save the file as ‘reflect.nfo’. 4. Zip both these files and send them to support@macrium.com
The 'Drive 1' is in fact 'Drive 0' in windows (we just count from 1)
Many Thanks

Update! 12-2-2007: Per instruction from Macrium Support,I followed a link which provided the following information / instructions:(Relating to the Vista backup error "the system cannot find the specified file" The following "cure" worked on my Vista HP system.
Delete System Restore points / Volume Shadow copies by doing the following:
1. From Control Panel, select "System"
2. In the System Protection tab (page), uncheck all drives listed under "Automatic Restore Points".
3. Click OK to save the settings - this deletes all existing shadow copies.
4. Go back into the System settings and reselect the drives that you unselected.
When you run your next backup, the problem should be gone.
Thanks to Macrium Support, for providing this information!!! Vista user999 12-2-2007 |

I would like to make another comment on this error: Backup aborted: "can not find the specified file" I continued to have the error on a removeable USB hard drive, and seem to have resolved it by disabling disk cascheing on the drive. In Computer Management, select the drive properties and check the box "Optimize for quick removal", rather than "Optimize for performance". I suspect that the disk cascheing has problems with the large files involved with disk imaging. However, I am not 100% sure about this and am watching to see future performance. It may also be possible that there is some other problem with the USB hard drive. Vista user999 1-5-2008 |
